Team VERTU’s Tom Ingram set the pace in the British Touring Car Championship practice session at Donington Park, edging out Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble by a tenth of a second.

Ingram posted a succession of quick laps in the final minutes of the session, initially with a time of 1 minute 33.764 seconds before improving twice more to laps of 1:33.644 and finally 1:33.490.

Doble also went quick near the end to end the 50-minute practice session just 0.102 seconds behind in his Audi.

Daniel Rowbottom was third quickest in the newly-re-liveried black CPRL Mercedes, 0.226 seconds adrift, with WSR’s Charles Rainford in fourth as the top BMW.

Adam Morgan hinted at a continuation of encouraging pace for the Mercedes by putting his Mercedes in fifth, whilst Árón Taylor-Smith was the top Toyota driver in sixth, the MB Motorsport driver being just under half a second off Ingram’s pace.

NAPA Racing UK’s Ash Sutton had been quickest with 15 minutes to go but ended the session in seventh as the top Ford, ahead of Team VERTU’s Ricky Collard in eighth.

The top ten was completed by Team VERTU’s Tom Chilton and Toyota’s Josh Cook, the latter having endured an electrical issue early on before returning to the circuit towards the end.
